In Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5, the Hound and Arya Stark easily found their way into King's Landing to fulfill their own personal missions. However, it was just Sandor Clegane who managed to do what he has always wanted to do since childhood.

Before Cleganebowl started, it was made clear that Gregor Clegane hated his brother just as much as the Hound loathed him. When Qyburn tried to stop the Mountain from abandoning Cersei Lannister, he was promptly killed by the undead Gregor. As soon as Cersei stepped out of the way, the two immediately engaged in an epic fight.

The fight between the Cleganes was truly cinematic as they ignored the crumbling walls of the Red Keep in their need to kill each other. Unfortunately, it immediately becomes clear that the Mountain might be unkillable as Sandor kept stabbing him to no avail. At one point, the Hound is overpowered and almost suffers the same fate as Oberyn Martell.

In the end, the Hound had to take the plunge to do away with his brother. In the Inside The Episode featurette for Episode 5, Game of Thrones showrunner DB Weiss revealed that they had always known Sandor's death would be "a death by fire."

"The one thing stronger in the Hound than his fear of fire is his hatred of the person that put it there in the first place," Weiss said.

Technically, people would say that Cleganebowl ended in a draw. However, the victory should be given to the Hound for conquering his own fear of fire and ultimately accepting that he will have to die just to defeat the Mountain.
