Game of Thrones: George R.R. Martin Shares More Details on Dunk & Egg Series

We're finally getting another Game of Thrones prequel and this time, the new show will adapt the beloved Dunk & Egg novellas. So what's going on with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight right now? George R.R. Martin shared some new details on the highly anticipated HBO show.

George R.R. Martin took to Not A Blog to celebrate the announcement of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. The Game of Thrones creator then explained that this is currently the show's working title but there is no chance it will simply be called Dunk & Egg.

“If you don’t know the characters, DUNK & EGG sounds like a sitcom. LAVERNE & SHIRLEY. ABBOTT & COSTELLO. BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD. So, no,” he wrote. “We want 'knight' in the title. Knighthood and chivalry are central to the themes of these stories.”

Martin also teased the episode count for The Hedge Knight.

“HBO has given us a greenlight to film for a full season (not just a pilot), most likely of six episodes… though that is not set in stone, and won’t be until considerably later in the process,” he wrote.

George R.R. Martin confirmed that he will serve as executive producer along with House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal. He also shared some information on the pilot.

“The pilot script is already written, and I think it’s terrific. It was written by Ira Parker, who is no stranger to Westeros. He was part of Ryan Condal’s writing staff for the first season of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, and wrote the fourth episode of Hot D’s first season, King of the Narrow Sea,” he wrote.

For now, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is still in early development. However, we're waiting for new information in the upcoming series in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
