Game of Thrones: George R.R. Martin Confirms The Winds of Winter Delay Again

There is little doubt that fans are still waiting for The Winds of Winter. After all, the sixth novel in the A Song of Ice and Fire book series has been delayed for a very long time. Unfortunately, it looks like George R.R. Martin isn't going to be done with the novel anytime soon. The Game of Thrones creator confirmed that Book 6 is going to be pushed back yet again.

Martin has been providing updates on The Winds of Winter release date for several years, always confirming that he is working on the novel but unable to provide a release date. However, things are different with the latest post on the author's Not A Blog website. This time, Martin may have confirmed he won't be done with the book soon.

"I am hugely behind right now, and the prospect of trying to catch up is feeling increasingly oppressive," Martin wrote.

Of course, he doesn't mention The Winds of Winter in his post but fans were quick to point out that the novel is the only major project that he is currently working on that is being delayed.

Interestingly, Martin somehow addressed the reason for the delay in the same post. He pointed out that he is excited about his five-year contract with HBO and HBO Max. Unfortunately, the new contract might be why Martin doesn't have enough time to write new pages for The Winds of Winter.

Sadly, we will have to continue waiting for The Winds of Winter. In the meantime, fans are currently celebrating the 10th anniversary of Game of Thrones. In addition to that, we're looking forward to the prequel series House of the Dragon that will air on HBO next year.
