Warning: This article contains spoilers for Game of Thrones' series finale, "Iron Throne."
Game of Thrones series finale might have taken in some of the highest ratings on HBO, but a lot of fans of the fantasy epic feel a whole lot underwhelmed by the final episode.
This barely comes as a surprise. Fans have already been expressing their concern with the last few episodes of Game of Thrones with most feeling that season 8 had been rushed and character development of fan-favorites like Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) had made sharp, surprising turns.
The series' finale, "Iron Throne," may have properly closed the arcs of characters like Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and the remaining Stark siblings Sansa (Sophie Turner), Arya (Maisie Williams), and Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright). However, most fans feel like the series made unearned turns – to many, the death of Danny was just as rushed as everything else in the season.
Taking to social media, fans have been expressing their discontent. Check out some of the most irate tweets right here:
Not only that, but TV Time held Games of Thrones poll asking fans whether or not they were satisfied with the series' finale, and almost half of their respondents were left disappointed by "The Iron Throne." As disappointing the finale actually is, "The Iron Throne" neatly ties Game of Thrones together, breaking the wheel and giving a few characters the future that they deserve. The only problem is that the episode feels rushed, and some parts don't really make sense (weren't most of the Dothraki killed in the Battle of Winterfell? How did Daenery's Forces become this large?)
