Emilia Clarke has been through a lot since she was cast as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. Not surprisingly, the Solo: A Star Wars Story actress wrote a heartfelt message to the character as well as the fans who have supported her throughout the show's eight seasons.
Clarke decided to say goodbye to Daenerys by posting an emotional message on her Instagram account. She also shared some awesome behind-the-scenes photos from Game of Thrones Season 8. Take a look at her post below.
"Finding the words to write this post has left me overwhelmed with how much I want to say but how small words feel in comparison to what this show and Dany have meant to me," Clarke wrote. "The mother of dragons chapter has taken up the whole of my adult life. This woman has taken up the whole of my heart. I've sweated in the blaze of dragon fire, shed many tears at those who left our family early, and wrung my brain dry trying to do Khaleesi and the masterful words, actions (and names) I was given, justice."
The lengthy post also included her gratitude to the fans who have supported Clarke and Daenerys through the last decade.
"Game of Thrones has shaped me as a woman, as an actor and as a human being. I just wish my darling dad was here now to see how far we've flown," she wrote. "But to you, dear kind magical fans, I owe you so much thanks, for your steady gaze at what we've made and what I've done with a character that was already in the hearts of many before I slipped on the platinum wig of dreams. Without you there is no us."
The post concludes with a truly depressing note. "And now our watch has ended," Clarke wrote. She also added the hashtag #motherofdragonsoverandout.
In the season finale, Daenerys was ultimately killed by her beloved Jon Snow to prevent her bloodthirsty world domination. The assassination certainly fulfilled the prophecy where the third treason against her would be made for love.
