Game Of Thrones Director Questioned Arya's Speedy Trip Through Godswood

It's safe to say that nobody expected Arya Stark to be the one to kill the Night King in Game of Thrones Season 8. After all, it seemed like Jon Snow was the one destined to do away with the villain. Interestingly, director Miguel Sapochnik was also confused about the episode he directed. However, it's actually Arya's speedy trip from Winterfell to the godswood that had him scratching his head.

Sapochnik recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the episode The Long Night where he admitted that he had his own questions about Arya got to the Night King so quickly.

"I questioned everything and we worked long and hard to find the right balance of credibility versus wish fulfillment," Sapochnik said. However, he did confirm that they shot a scene showing Arya's action-packed trip to the godswood.

"At one point there was an elaborate plan to have her fight her way into the Weirwood forest, but as we progressed we realized she'd already done that earlier in the episode, so it felt like a repeat," he said. Finally, Sapochnik stated that they decided not to worry about it too much.

"In the end, we felt it didn't matter how she got there — what mattered was setting up that moment when the Night King catches her mid-leap and we think she's done for, then she pulls her knife switch and takes him out," he said.

It's interesting to know that Sapochnik had wanted to show how Arya managed to get through hundreds of wights before ultimately making it to Bran Stark's location. Sure, it would have been logical but it might also spoil the whole plot twist. In the end, it's just another reason why people continue to question the show's final season.
