The Emmy-winning British actor Ian McShane, is coming to Westeros (or Essos). According to EW, the actor is joining Game of Thrones season 6. The casting brings the former Deadwood star to HBO for an unknown role on the network's fantasy hit based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.

The secretive production of Thrones will not reveal details about McShane's character. The report says that McShane has a relatively little amount of screen-time during the season, yet his character has a significant role.

McShane is best known for playing the homicidal frontier kingpin Al Swearengen on Deadwood, then had roles in films Kung Fu Panda, Sexy Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, John Wick and other films.

The fantasy series has began production on season 6, which is expected to premiere next spring. Earlier this week, HBO's programming president Michael Lombardo revealed that the company's plans at least eight seasons of the show.
