There's no denying that Christian Bale is currently experiencing a career renaissance thanks to his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After appearing as the manacing baddie Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder, it looks like Disney has major plans for the 48-year-old actor that would see him appear in another high-profile franchise.

Rumor has it that Bale is being considered for a role in the Star Wars universe. According to a new report from the folks over at Giant Freakin Robot, the star of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy is Lucasfilm's current pick to play the live-action version of legendary character Galen Marek aka Starkiller.

Considered by many as one of the franchise's best characters, Starkiller instantly clicked with fans after debuting in the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video game. However, as cool as Marek is, he is currently part of the franchise's Expanded Universe, making him a non-canon character.

As it stands, nothing has been officially confirmed yet so of course, it's best to take this new rumor with a death star-sized grain of salt. Personally speaking, I feel like Bale is a little too old to be playing Starkiller and I'd much rather see him take on a different role.

Besides, we already have the best choice for Galen Marek and it's definitely Sam Witwer who performed the character's voice in the video games. He's a no-brainer casting for sure.

Meanwhile, Star Wars' next series Andor will begin streaming in August exclusively on Disney+.
