There have been reports that the Gambit movie will still be pursued sometime in the future. Now Channing Tatum has admitted that he is "ready to go back to work" and could soon be suiting up as the beloved card-playing mutant.
Tatum recently attended the premiere of his new animated film Smallfoot. According to Variety, the Kingsman: The Golden Circle actor confessed he is eager to work on more movies this year after his long break following his break-up with Jenna Dewan.
"I'm sort of ready to go back to work," Tatum said in reference to his lengthy hiatus. Not surprisingly, fans wondered if this meant that he is going to resume filming the Gambit movie. After all, the project is long overdue and is believed to start production early next year.
Tatum remained coy about the film, saying that he is still unsure about what he will be working on next. "I don't know what I'm ready to go do yet, as far as, is it acting, is it directing, is it producing, writing…" He joked that he might even pursue journalism but insisted he doesn't know if the Gambit film will be next. "I have no clue what I'm going to do, but I'm having fun though," Tatum said.
It was previously reported that 20th Century Fox is still eager to finish the X-Men spin-off movie. There is a possibility that the film will begin production by February 2019 which would fit in perfectly with Tatum's schedule. Although Fox has not made an official announcement just yet, we're hoping to get an update within the next few weeks.
It is still unclear if the Gambit movie will be released independently by Fox. After all, there have been reports that Dark Phoenix will be the last X-Men film that will be released by the studio before being absorbed by Disney. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see what could happen for the Tatum flick.
