Gal Gadot Reveals What Time She’d Like Her Next Wonder Woman Movie Set In

Wonder Woman 1984 might be set in the 80s, but DC Extended Universe star Gal Gadot hopes that her next outing as Diana Prince is finally going to be set in present-day DC or perhaps in the future.

Entertainment Weekly just recently did a detailed cover on Warner Brother's Wonder Woman sequel and the entertainment news outlet sat down for a video interview with Gadot and her Wonder Woman 1984 co-stars. During the interview, the actress was asked what era she'd like to have her next solo movie take place in, and it looks like Gadot would want her third Wonder Woman to be set in the present.

"Present-day would be pretty awesome," the actress admitted, something which director Patty Jenkins suggests would be mostly for the wardrobe selection. "Maybe in the future."

Though this barely narrows down what Warner Brothers might have planned for the Wonder Woman franchise, it does tell fans something – that Gadot wants a change of pace. The first Wonder Woman movie was a period piece telling Diana Prince's origin story. The second is another period piece set in the 80s. It would be lovely to see Diana star in a present-day solo movie.

Interestingly enough, we've already seen Diana in the present day DCEU. Gadot debuted as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice back in 2016. The year after that, she appeared in the Justice League.

A Wonder Woman movie set in present-day DCEU would be much different though. We wonder whether the movie would also include appearances by Ben Affleck's Batman or Henry Cavill's Superman. Let's wait and see.

Wonder Woman 1984 premieres June 5, 2020.
