Is Griselda Based on a True Story?
The biopic, Griselda, is based on the story of the Godmother of Cocaine. Although some scenes in the biopic were fictionalized, the story pretty much covers the truth behind her life, business, and arrest.
The docuseries also explains why Blanco was known for several nicknames, such as "La Madrina," "The Black Widow," and "La Dama de la Mafia."
While many respected her for her position and ruthless behavior, her enemies knew her as one thing: a woman not to be reckoned with.
In fact, Griselda opens with a line from Pablo Escobar: "The only man I was ever afraid of was a woman named Griselda Blanco."
So when the detectives were finally able to bring her down, it really took a lot of courage to pin down someone as merciless as her, so they say. Let's talk about one of the detectives who did the job.

Is Detective Raul Diaz Real in Griselda?
Yes, the detectives who are credited with pinning down Griselda Blanco were June Hawkins and Raul Diaz. Hawkins was an intelligence-analyst-cum-translater who took part in the anti-drug task force Central Tactical Unit (CENTAC 26).
CENTAC 26 was created during the time as a joint operation between the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) anti-drug operation and the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Alongside Hawkins was Raul Diaz, who was previously a Dade County homicide detective. As depicted in the show, Diaz was the one who invited Hawkins to be part of CENTAC after seeing her aptitude for conducting investigations.
Who is Gabriel Sloyer from Griselda? Where You've Seen Him Before?
Gabriel Sloyer is the actor who plays Detective Raul Diaz in Griselda. He is a Colombian-American actor who was born in Long Island, New York.
As an actor, he made waves by being part of the Red Dead series. He starred as the voice and motion-capture actor for the role of Javier Escuella in Red Dead Redemption 2.
You may also recognize him for his role as Gabriel Calatrava in Inventing Anna and as Hugo in Power.
He also voiced the character of Oscar Guzman in the Rockstar game, Grand Theft Auto V.
When he's not working, he plays pranks on new cast members. He claimed that Rod Edge was his stepfather.
