Future Of The DCEU Will Depend On The Success Of Justice League

After the first three movies were considered critical failures, Warner Bros. has decided to take things slow before they keep moving forward with their DC movies. 2017 is a big year for DC, and the success of the movies coming out this year will determine on whether we get more DC movies in the future.

According to Forbes writer Mark Hughes:

The truth is, a lot is riding on how 2017 pans out. The studio wants to see how Wonder Woman performs (so far so good on that front) and how Justice League turns out, before they barrel ahead with multiple more films every year. More films will get made, don't worry, but it makes sense to ease off the gas a little and be certain about the best route ahead.

So far, the only other DC movie in production is Aquaman, and it's slated for a release late 2018. There are also plans to make solo movies for Flash and Cyborg as well, but seeing as DC is still trying to get its feet on the ground, the releases of those movies will depend on how well the characters are received in Justice League. For now, I would honestly rather see Joss Whedon's Batgirl movie come out next year than Ezra Miller's solo Flash film.

Justice League is currently caught on a snag with Zack Snyder leaving to handle a family tragedy, and Joss Whedon has currently taken over his responsibilities. The style of the movie will still remain Snyder's though, and with Whedon's knack for telling stories, he may just as well have given Justice League the narrative edge that it needs that was absent from Batman v Superman.

Justice League is set to come out Nov. 17.
