Future Cloverfield Installments Will Return to Cinemas

The Cloverfield Paradox ended up being a good move for both Paramount Pictures and Netflix. Paramount managed to save a ton of money on advertising, while Netflix was able to get a ton of buzz from the Superbowl trailer. While one would think that this would be the start of a new partnership, it looks like this will just be a one-time deal.

According to The Wrap, future Cloverfield films will once again hit theaters like the first film and 10 Cloverfield Lane. This includes the upcoming Overlord film, which will have an alternate WWII timeline, making it more interesting than most period pieces. Reports claim that the film is slated for an October 26 release though no one has officially confirmed it yet.

Considering the poor critical reception towards Paradox, it might have been smart of Paramount to make the film Netflix-exclusive. The company even added an extra incentive by having the first Cloverfield available for viewing, so that newer viewers could get up to speed. Still, it didn't help the film's poor critical reception, so fans can hope that Overlord does better.

The Cloverfield Paradox can now be streamed on Netflix.
