Furiosa is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films right now. After all, the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel will focus on a younger version of Charlize Theron's bad-ass character and reveal how she managed to become Immortan Joe's war captain.
Naturally, fans have been wondering whether Immortan Joe will actually show up in Furiosa. Luckily, the official synopsis for the Mad Max spin-off confirms that the Fury Road villain will be back and could cause more chaos soon!
Warner Bros. has finally shared the official synopsis for Furiosa. In addition to Immortan Joe's return, it confirms that the future war captain will not be working for the villain right away.
The official synopsis for Furiosa reads as follows:
"As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home."
Interestingly, it seems like Furiosa will actually be captured by a different warlord before she joins Immortan Joe's ranks. This is an interesting revelation considering that many believed it was Joe who took her as a young girl from the Green Place of Many Mothers. With that in mind, we can't wait to see what truly happened to Furiosa soon.
But who will play Immortan Joe in the Mad Max prequel? Unfortunately, original actor Hugh Keays-Byrne passed away in 2020 so the character will need to be recast. Stay tuned for updates on this story.
Furiosa will be directed by George Miller and will introduce Anya Taylor-Joy as the titular character. Chris Hemsworth has been confirmed to join the film as well. It is currently scheduled for release on May 24, 2024.
