Funny Or Die: What If There Was An Oscar-Bait Star Wars Movie?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out this week, and a lot of Youtubers are pumping out content to get people pumped up for the movie. Funny or Die has come up with this fun video which is a trailer for a Star Wars movie that is pure Oscar-bait.

Check it out:

When a Stormtrooper named Ian feels his life is missing something, it takes a Rodian named Teedo to fill the missing piece of his heart. Don't miss the latest in the new Star Wars Indie series and a film that begs the question, "Why can't all movies be set in the Star Wars universe?"

You can already see moments taken from films like Brokeback Mountain and last year’s Moonlight. With a movie as big as Star Wars, I’m curious as to why they don’t get nominated for more Oscars. I understand all the nominations for Sound and Visuals, but doesn’t the production design for these movies merit a nomination?

In the end, the Oscars have their own agenda that a lot of people are starting to get tired of. In all honesty, the Oscars have become less about achievements in the art form and more about completing a checklist of “Oscar-bait” elements. I’m even amazed that Baby Driver wants to compete at the Oscars at all.

As for Star Wars, catch The Last Jedi in theaters Dec. 15.
