Frozen 2 Insiders Reportedly Say That Elsa Is Getting A Female Love Interest

When Disney announced that they had decided to cast Westworld actress Rachel Wood in the sequel to Frozen, fans started speculating on the possibility that the Mickey Mouse House might be giving Idina Menzel's Elsa a female love interest in the film. After all, Disney has begun to show more interest in telling diverse stories, and Elsa never really showed any interest in male characters in the original Frozen animated film.

Now, according to a new report by Revenge of the Fans, new sources say that Disney really is going to reveal Elsa as a queer Snow Queen. The Mickey House has just added a new writer Allison Schroeder to the production of Frozen 2 and the news outlet says that the studio is planning to have the script include a new love interest for Elsa.

Coming fresh off from the Winnie the Pooh live-action movie Christopher Robin, Schroeder has been mainly known for writing the screenplay the Oscar-nominated historical drama movie, Hidden Figures. Having worked on a film praised by critics for empowering women and people of color, we definitely find it no surprise to hear word that Schroeder might be brought in to help make Disney's bold choice of turning Elsa a lesbian character clear to audiences in Frozen 2.

Of course, as exciting as it may sound, especially in the name of progress and diversity, fans ought to be reminded to take the new report with a grain of salt. After all, we have yet to receive an official confirmation from Disney.

Frozen 2 is set to debut on November 29, 2019.
