Fox Plans To Give “War For The Planet Of The Apes” An Oscar Push

It looks like War for the Planet of the Apes is planning to join the Academy Awards run next year.

Not only is 20th Century Fox going to give the third installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot film series a shot at the 2018 Academy Awards by giving it an all-out Oscar push, the studio' s also vying for a Best Picture nomination for the Matt Reeve's 2017 science fiction movie.

According to Deadline, Fox is planning to work on an awards push for War for the Planet of the Apes, describing their effort as something "like no campaign ever before in the half century." Oscar campaigns usually require a lot of money, but it seems like the studio's pretty serious about the film, hoping to win a Best Picture nomination for the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The studio's also looking forward to pitting the film at critic specific award events as well, like the SAG awards.

Apparently Fox wants to emphasize on the "strong international appeal of the film," hoping that various awards events will recognize the film and its role in the critically acclaimed trilogy. War for the Planet of the Apes Oscar potential may have been repeatedly debated, however it seems like the film now has a running chance with Fox backing its Oscar push.
