Former Marvel Attorney Hints Andrew Garfield's Return in The Amazing Spider-Man 3

Fans certainly can't get enough of last year's monumental three-generation reunion of Peter Parkers including Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Following the triumphant return of two beloved web-slingers, fans are now petitioning to continue each of their own Spider-Man franchises with Maguire's Spider-Man 4, and Andrew Garfield's scrapped The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

Now that Garfield appears to be officially back in Holland's MCU Spider-Man universe, it would make sense to continue his canceled Spider-Man 3 film. While fans are all in the dark and the possibility remains a mystery, a former Marvel Studios attorney thinks contracts won't stop Garfield from returning as the web-slinger.

In a recent interview with Screenrant, former Marvel Studios attorney Paul Sarker weighs in on Andrew Garfield's possible return in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Looking from a legal standpoint, the answer is yes.

“Anything’s possible from a legal standpoint," Sarker said. "That doesn’t mean it’s possible from a business or creative standpoint, but legally as lawyers, we often respond to the direction and requests of business and creative teams. I know Sony has the exclusive rights to Spider-Man. In theory, if Andrew Garfield wanted to be part of this franchise moving forward, in Amazing Spider-Man 3, and there was a budget for it… Legally, the sides could work out whatever paperwork needed to be done to make that happen."

“But I think, from a creative point of view, Andrew Garfield may not want to do it. I think he’s gone on record saying he’s gonna take a break from acting, he may not be in the area creatively where he wants to be making Amazing Spider-Man 3," he added. "But I think, if all the other factors were pointing that way, legally there’d be a way to get it done.”

Well, it appears that the decision is entirely up to Garfield whether he wants to continue his The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. With the MCU's Multiverse concept as the core plot for Phase 4, Marvel writers could surely pen something regarding Garfield's Peter Parker continuation. After all, his return in No Way Home opens a lot of possibilities for his version of Spider-Man.

The actor has also expressed interest in returning as Spider-Man in the MCU, however, he also shared that he will be taking a break from acting first. So if ever he eventually decided to return, we might see him in the next Phases of the MCU.
