Star Wars Rebels and Clone Wars were set around the times of the first two trilogies but the upcoming animated series is meant to bridge the gap between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Star Wars Resistance is meant to debut this October, and although fans will have to wait a few months, the first details for the show have arrived.
TV Web has recently released the synopsis for Star Wars Resistance's first episode, which is titled The Recruit, and it teases the show's main character getting help from the Resistance pilot, Poe Dameron.
Here's the synopsis:
Resistance fighter Poe Dameron tasks young pilot Kazuda (Kaz) Xiono with spying on the First Order. At the time, little was known about the secretive organization and its strength. In order to fulfill his mission, Kaz travels to the space station Colossus, which is being used by many ships as a port to refuel and do repairs. However, there are also dangerous races taking place there. After Kaz bragged with his piloting skills at his arrival there, he is soon drawn into one of the races.
It looks like we're going to learn more about the characters introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I won't be surprised if the new series will explore the origins of other characters of the new trilogy like Supreme Leader Snoke and Kylo Ren.
Star Wars Resistance is set to premiere on Disney XD this fall, with 22 episodes for the first season.
