First Look at Tim Burton's Live-Action Dumbo

Disney is working on several live-action remakes/reboots of their properties including Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, and Aladdin, and Tom Burton is currently working on an adaptation of Dumbo.

Thanks to CinemaCon (via ComicBookMovie), we have a look at the official banner for the film, and we also get a look at the titular elephant with gigantic ears, Dumbo:

They also describe the film's synopsis:

The movie follows Colin Farrell's character, who is a former circus star who's life is turned upside down when he returns home from the war. When he rejoins a troupe led by Max Medici (Danny DeVito), he becomes the carer of a newborn elephant who is the laughing stock of the circus because of his enormous ears.

When word gets out that Dumbo can fly, V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton) and Colette Marchant (Eva Green) take it upon themselves to make the little elephant a star/exploit him.

The movie looks to add more human elements to the original Disney film which mostly had the animals do all the talking. I guess Disney wanted to avoid any racial issues that would have popped up from the film's old-timey stereotypes. Exhibit A:

Dumbo is just one in a long line of remakes for Disney, and we're sure to get some more announced for the next year. Jon Favreau is currently working on a CG-action version of The Lion King, and we also have the live-action Mulan coming in 2020.

As for Dumbo, you can catch in flying in theaters March 29, 2019.
