First Look at Netflix's Carmen Sandiego Series

Netflix came out with their reboot of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power this year, and it turned out to be a hit with a lot of fans. Now next year will see another show with a woman protagonist, and it's based on one of the most popular educational game series ever made, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?.

Check it out:

So far, this is the only synopsis we have:

The series follows the adventures of Carmen Sandiego, a globe-hopping master thief.

The series will star Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) as the titular Carmen Sandiego with Finn Wolfhard voicing the role of "Player". With that in mind, I think the series is going to have some kind of Jumanji element to it, where Wolfhard's character is sucked into Carmen's game.

Interestingly enough, the series will also have Duane Capizzi as the showrunner. Capizzi has a lot of animated shows under his belt, some of them being the animated Men in Black, Extreme Ghostbusters, and Jackie Chan Adventures. He's also responsible for the 2006 The Batman series—which I thought was fantastic.

With someone like Capizzi attached as showrunner, I can't wait to see what Carmen Sandiego brings to the table. I have to say, her character design is very distinct, and I'm sure a new generation of fans will fall in love with this new Netflix heroine.

Catch Carmen Sandiego on Netflix Jan. 18, 2019.
