First Look at Manga Adaptation for Leia: Princess of Alderaan

While Star Wars films are what usually gets the most attention, the franchise still has a lot of great material from novels to comic books. What's interesting is, Claudia Gray's novel Leia: Princess of Alderaan is getting a manga adaptation, and here's our first look at Leia in manga form.

The comic comes from artist Haruichi who had worked on the Doctor Strange manga. Star Wars: Leia Ojo no Shiren is set to come out on Star Wars day, May the 4th.

Here's a description of the story (via AnimeNewsNetwork):

The story centers on 16-year-old Leia Organa as she faces a mandatory test in preparation for becoming queen of Alderaan. Leia is busy with her studies of various topics such as politics and martial arts. She falls in love with the intellectual and kindhearted fellow Alderaanian Kia, whom she meets at youth parliament. Meanwhile, Leia is fearful of the expansion of the Empire's tyrannical rule, and she learns the important secret of her parents.

Another interesting thing about the novel is that it actually introduced us to Admiral Amilyn Holdo, who was actually a friend of Leia's in her youth; giving us more context on their relationship when it comes to Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Princess of Alderaan isn't the first Star Wars novel to adapted into manga either. Yusaku Komiyama had also adapted Lost Stars—another book from Claudia Gray—back in 2017. Surely this won't be the last we see of Star Wars manga adaptations.

The manga for Leia: Princess of Alderaan is set to come out May the 4th.
