First Look at Alexander Skarsgard as Randall Flagg in The Stand

The coronavirus outbreak might be far from over but CBS All Access thought it might be time to finally release the first images from its upcoming series adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand. Amazingly, the photos confirm that Alexander Skarsgard might be the perfect guy to play the villainous Randall Flagg.

The first pictures from The Stand were revealed by Vanity Fair and Skarsgard's image features the Big Little Lies actor with a glorious pompadour and matching beard. Check it out below.

King fans already know that Flagg is an omnipresent figure who has appeared in several books but his appearance in The Stand is perfectly explained by co-showrunner Taylor Elmore.

"He's so charming and he's so handsome and so powerful—I mean genuinely powerful, able to perform these sort of miracles where he could levitate himself and he has these actual powers," Elmore said. "And yet he needs this adulation and this kind of worship from these people whom he's summoned to him. He needs to have them make a show all the time of how grateful they are to him."

Elmore also praised Skarsgard for his portrayal of Flagg in the series. "Alex just plays it where you feel not only sympathy for this character, but you hopefully understand why it's so easy for people to gravitate toward him. He's just magnetic, he's just absolutely fascinating to watch. He's galvanizing as a leader," he said.

We strongly agree with this one considering that Skarsgard has a way of playing charismatic yet evil characters. Needless to say, we can't wait to see more of him in The Stand.

The Stand does not have an official release date just yet. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
