First Images Released for Marvel’s Helstrom

Though Disney+ is meant to usher in a new era of Marvel series with shows like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Hulu is still pushing forward with another Marvel property, Helstrom. Just in, we have some new images from the upcoming show featuring stars Tom Austen and Sydney Lemmon.

Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity - each with their attitude and skills.

Comic fans may know Daimon Helstrom by his comic alter ego Son of Satan a.k.a. Hellstorm. With his origin considered to be offensive to religious conservatives, you can imagine why the show ended up on Hulu and not the family-friendly Disney+. Even then there are measures taken to make Helstrom less "blasphemous"; I mean, even his sister's name is supposed to be short for "Satana".

We don't know how the Hulu series is going to look yet, but with the heavy emphasis of the comic on magic, I have a feeling this is going to be Marvel's answer to Constantine/Hellblazer. Seeing as that show was cancelled so shortly after its debut on The CW, Hulu better have a way to make this Satan-based fantasy series work. I mean, even Chilling Adventures of Sabrina got cancelled.

No release date has been set for Marvel's Helstrom, but the show is slated to hold a Comic-Con@Home panel on Friday, July 24.
