Firefly Scribe Says Joss Whedon was "Casually Cruel" to Female Writers

More people are stepping up in support of Charisma Carpenter after she shared her terrifying experience with Joss Whedon. For instance, Firefly writer Jose Molina has just revealed that Whedon was "casually cruel" especially with female writers that he worked with.

Earlier this week, Carpenter decided to share her side of the story in support of Justice League star Ray Fisher. In her statement, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress revealed that she was called "fat" for being four months pregnant and was berated by Whedon for getting a rosary tattoo.

Since then, Carpenter's Buffy co-stars have spoken up about Whedon's behavior. Amber Benson tweeted about the show having a "toxic enviroment" and Molina retweeted her post along with his own revelation.

"'Casually cruel' is a perfect way of describing Joss. He thought being mean was funny. Making female writers cry during a notes session was especially hysterical. He actually liked to boast about the time he made one writer cry twice in one meeting," Molina wrote before adding the hashtag #IStandWithCharismaCarpenter.

We already know that Whedon was despicable to his stars but it looks like he was even worse to the writers who worked for him. Needless to say, this might not be the only horrible revelation we'll learn in the future.

Fisher had spoken up about Whedon's unprofessional behavior during the Justice League reshoots which pushed Warner Bros. to launch an investigation into the matter. However, Fisher has stated that the studio has given Whedon an easy way out and continues to call for justice.
