The world can still expect two more live-action Rurouni Kenshin movies by next year. Warner Bros. Japan has confirmed that the final films starring Takeru Sato as the legendary swordsman have officially wrapped.

The announcement was made on the official Warner Bros. Japan Twitter account, which posted an image of Sato with director Otomo Keishi. In addition to that, Sato also received a special artwork from the Rurouni Kenshin manga creator Nobuhiro Watsuki. Check it out below.

The sequels were reportedly filmed for seven months in a staggering 43 different locations around Japan.

So what can we expect in the new Rurouni Kenshin films? The first movie is set to cover Jūji Kizu no Nazo (Mystery of the Cross-Shaped Scar), which was the final part of the animated series Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal. The film could finally introduce Yukishiro Tomoe, the woman who somehow changed Battosai's life.

The second movie could also feature Tomoe since it is expected to adapt Saikyō no Teki - Enishi (Most Terrifying Enemy - Enishi). There is little doubt that this film will feature Yukishiro Enishi, Tomoe's younger brother.

It is sad to know that these two movies will be the last ones that will feature Sato as Hitokiri Battosai. Nevertheless, it also means that we'll get to see Battosai in action all over again.

Warner Bros. has not yet given the two new Rurouni Kenshin movies official titles nor release dates. Nevertheless, the first film is expected to premiere by summer 2020.
