It looks like the legendary Hitokiri Battosai will be back next year. Warner Bros. has just announced that there will be two more Rurouni Kenshin live-action movies that will be released in 2020.

According to Anime News Network, the studio has just launched an official website for the new Rurouni Kenshin films which will both be directed by Keishi Ōtomo. In addition to that, we get our first look at Takeru Satoh reprising his role as Kenshin Himura. Take a look at the photo below.

The new movies will serve as adaptations of some truly interesting times in Battosai's life. The first film will cover Jūji Kizu no Nazo (Mystery of the Cross-Shaped Scar), which was the final part of the animated series Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal. In this movie, we may get to meet Yukishiro Tomoe, the woman who somehow changed Battosai's life.

Fans believe that we have already seen a glimpse of Tomoe in the second Rurouni Kenshin film Kyoto Inferno. In one scene, Kenshin recalls how he got his scar and an extension of the sequence revealed a woman weeping over one of the men he killed. Although it was not confirmed, there have been speculations that the woman was Tomoe.

The second movie will somehow be connected to Tomoe as well. According to the report, it will adapt Saikyō no Teki - Enishi (Most Terrifying Enemy - Enishi). There is little doubt that this film will feature Yukishiro Enishi, Tomoe's younger brother.

Warner Bros. has not yet given the two new Rurouni Kenshin movies official titles or release dates. Nevertheless, the first film is expected to premiere by summer 2020.
