Final Fantasy XIV Director Wants to See the Game on PlayStation 5

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is one of the best online games available right now, even with the monthly fee that fans have to pay just so they can play. The game managed to reinvent itself after the original Final Fantasy XIV bombed badly and now many consider A Realm Reborn to be one of the best Final Fantasy games out there. It's currently available on PS4 and PC but it looks like the game's director has bigger plans.

During a Final Fantasy XIV fanfest in London, director Naoki Yoshida appeared, gave a fan a special FFXIV-themed PlayStation 4, and said that he is planning to bring Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on PlayStation 5. However, Square Enix later told various websites (in this case Destructoid) that this is just something that Yoshida is hoping for.

The PlayStation 5 is expected to be backward-compatible with PlayStation 4 games but since we don't know how their online works, the current build of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn might not be functional on the new console. If this does end up being the case, no one will mind if a port is announced for the next-gen console.

Until Final Fantasy VII Remake comes out, it seems like A Realm Reborn will be most people's favorite Final Fantasy of this generation. It's amazing how an online MMO can get this many people together so here is hoping people keep on playing this for years to come.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and its various expansions are now available.
