Final Fantasy VII and Tomb Raider Join World Video Game Hall of Fame

While it might not be the best game in the series, Final Fantasy VII was an incredibly influential game when it came out on the original PlayStation. The same thing goes for Tomb Raider, which broke boundaries at the time for featuring a playable female character. Considering how these games have influenced many people over the years, it's fitting that they will be a part of the World Video Game Hall of Fame.

These two legendary games join John Madden's Football and Spacewar in the hall of fame. Spacewar is the oldest game in this list, coming out back in 1962, while John Madden's Football came out in the 90's and was one of the best football simulators that hit the Sega Genesis.

Final Fantasy VII was such a success that it got a number of spin-off titles and is in the process of being remade for the PS4. The original game has also been ported to mobile devices, PC, PS3, and PS4. Everyone is hoping that this remake lives up to the hype and, at the least, it will be a good JRPG.

Tomb Raider has also been a success, with its most recent reboot proving to be one of the better gaming franchises in recent memory. The next installment, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, is set for release on September 14. The original games clearly inspired titles like the Uncharted series.
