Final Fantasy IX is Now Available on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One

The recent Nintendo Direct impressed a lot of fans with original titles like Super Mario Maker 2 and Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening but it was also nice seeing ports of Final Fantasy get some love. Nintendo announced that Final Fantasy VII would be coming to the Switch next month and that Final Fantasy IX would be available...now.

Yeah, Final Fantasy IX came out on Switch before Final Fantasy VII. Also, the game is now available on Xbox One, so yay?

Cynicism aside, Final Fantasy IX is a great game and if you haven't picked this up yet, you're in for a treat. This port is based on the PC version, which was also released on the PS4 not too long ago. It comes with a number of new features, like being able to speed up battles and making every character max leveled if you want an easy time.

Final Fantasy IX focuses on Zidane, a member of the Tantalus Theatre Troupe who was supposed to kidnap Princess Garnet. Turns out that Garnet yearns to escape and decides to go with them, though her bodyguard Steiner isn't far behind. Soon, memorable characters like Vivi join the party, while the story gains some intensity.

If you haven't yet, now is the time to get Final Fantasy IX. Seriously, it's pretty much available on every other gaming system, including mobile devices.
