Final Fantasy IX Comes To PS4 With New Features And Exclusive Bonuses

In a move that completely took everyone by surprise, Square Enix has released Final Fantasy IX on the PS4. The game was literally announced at the Tokyo Game Show earlier today and was released on the PlayStation Network (PSN) a few hours later. For those curious about the re-release, here is everything you need to know about it.

Similar to the re-release of Final Fantasy VII, this is a port of the PC version that came out a few years ago. These ports feature more detailed textures and character models, which look better on Final Fantasy IX than it did on Final Fantasy VII, due to the latter's extremely blocky visuals. While the 17-year old JRPG won't look like a modern PS4 game, it will look decent enough on a widescreen TV.

The description on the PlayStation Network has also confirmed new features, like trophies, autosave and being able to turn off encounters. Fans that get this version will also have a free custom theme designed by Toshiyuki Itahana and eight character avatars based on the game's characters. As if that wasn't enough, those that get the game from September 19 to September 26 can get the popular JRPG at a discounted price of $16.79, before it goes back up to $20.99.

Final Fantasy IX is now available for purchase on PS4, via PSN. In a picture book-like world of fantasy, Zidane the thief, Princess Garnet and Vivi get tangled up in an emotional and magnificent crystal adventure!
