It looks like some Fox films are coming to Disney+ sooner than we thought as fans have discovered that Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is now available for streaming. While these films coming to the service was inevitable, it's kind of weak knowing that Rise of the Silver Surfer is the first of them to come since there are a number of perfectly fine X-Men films to show first.
Confirmed by ScreenRant, this is a bit of an anomaly since they could have shown a good X-Men movie or the first Fantastic Four film before this one but this does have more action than its predecessor. Plus, Stan Lee did love the Silver Surfer so this could be a way for them to show off the character (and the FF) a bit before they make their MCU debut.
Taking place a few years after the first Fantastic Four film, Rise of the Silver Surfer has the titular Surfer invading Earth and getting it ready for Galactus, so naturally, the FF are here to stop them. It's a basic premise but doesn't really get much better than that unfortunately and the movie tries to stretch it out in a fairly dull manner, even giving the Human Torch this weird defect that lets him absorb his teammates' powers.
Yeah, sorry fans of this movie, Rise of the Silver Surfer is not very good. Even the tie-in video game that came out on PS3 and Xbox 360 was pretty bad.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer can now be streamed on Disney+ and can be owned on DVD and Blu-ray.
