Major fanfare surrounds Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot and now that the studio has officially announced its release date, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are eagerly awaiting more news about the First Family's Earth-616 arrival. The project was first confirmed in late 2020 but has experienced minor bumps along the way.
Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy director Jon Watts was originally attached to direct but would later abandon the project, citing his desire to take a break from superhero films for the foreseeable future. Since then, several names have been speculated to take over the project, including Bryce Dallas Howard and filmmaking legend Steven Spielberg, both of which have already been debunked.
Now, it looks like Marvel Studios has already found the project's new director and it's going to make a lot of fans quite happy. According to a report from The Direct, Matt Shakman, who previously worked on the hit Disney+ series WandaVision is said to be helming the reboot. As it stands, other details about Shakman's Fantastic Four involvement are still being kept under wraps.

Shakman impressed audiences with his work on the Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany series so it doesn't come as a surprise that Kevin Feige has put his faith and confidence in him. As for the project's cast, rumors are swirling all over the internet that Marvel Studios will finally be making the long-awaited announcement at this year's D23 Expo. These are definitely exciting times.
Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot will hit cinemas on November 8, 2024.
