It's a good day for Hollywood as a whole now that both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have ended. Naturally, fans are beyond ecstatic because it would mean that previously halted productions may now resume operation after months of being put on hold.
Marvel Studios is undoubtedly among the production houses gravely affected by the strikes. Now, we're getting new information surrounding one project that has long been in development hell and that is the Fantastic Four reboot.
With the strikes officially concluding, it won't be long until Marvel announces the film's cast which has been shrouded in mystery all these years.

Jake Gyllenhaal Reportedly Still Marvel Studios' Top Pick to Play Reed Richards
Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman debunked a recent report from Collider claiming that the reboot's cast has already been chosen. According to him, Marvel Studios will only resume the casting phase now that the SAG-AFTRA strike has concluded.
Moreover, Richtman hints that Jake Gyllenhaal, who previously played Mysterio in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home is still the studio's top contender for the part.

Rumors surrounding Gyllenhaal's involvement first surfaced in September and turns out that Marvel Studios made the offer even before the SAG-AFTRA strikes commenced. Well, it's safe to assume that the offer still stands.
Obviously, his past involvement in the franchise as Mysterio could cause some confusion amongst fans, especially the more casual followers of the MCU but of course, we already know Quentin Beck's fate and unless the franchise pulls some multiversal shenanigans, there's no way Mysterio could make his return to the franchise.
Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot is currently slated to hit cinemas on May 2, 2025.
