Fantastic Four Director Quits Social Media After Being Bullied by Trolls

It looks like Capone and Fantastic Four director Josh Trank has decided to leave social media after a heavy confrontation with online trolls.

The past few days, the filmmaker has been quite active on social media, promoting his upcoming film Capone, a biographical drama movie where Venom actor Tom Hardy stars as the eponymous gangster, Al Capone. While promoting the film, Trank decided to open up about the production of his 2015 movie Fantastic Four, a reboot that ended up earning overwhelmingly negative reviews and subsequently failing at the box office. Hoping to explain the failings of the movie, Trank discussed the film's production and went as far as sharing a "final word" on Fantastic Four.

Instead of trying to give Trank a chance to share his story, netizens on Instagram decided to troll and harass the director by sending over a slew of negative comments on the social media platform. Trank responded in kind, and then later received flack online. He then decided to leave social media al together.

You can take a look at screenshots of Trank's response to the trolls that one user shared on Twitter:

While some netizens are celebrating the fact that they had managed to get Trank off of social media, others have been calling them out, protesting against the relentless bullying.

Online bullying can be very cruel. Trolling and harassment has resulted in the loss of lives – take for example the recent death of Hana Kimura, a Netflix star and Japanese wrestler who killed herself after being bullied on social media.
