Fantastic Four Could Be Getting A Sequel, Here’s Why

Last year's Fantastic Four tanked at the box office, but apparently, that's no reason for Fox to totally let it go. Despite news that the studio already canceled its release schedule, according to producer and writer Simon Kinberg, there's still a chance of a Fantastic Four 2.

In an interview with Den of Geek during an X-Men: Apocalypse visit, the dialogue brushed upon Fantastic Four. Kinberg made this totally unexpected revelation:

We didn't make a good movie. The world voted, and I think they probably voted correctly. And you can't make a good movie every time out - not everybody does.
We actually have a pretty good batting average, all things considered. But I think we made many mistakes when we made that movie - mistakes that we learned from and we wouldn't repeat. We want to make another Fantastic Four movie. We love that cast.

While there's a possibility that what Kinberg is saying isn't credible, the man is the writer of Fantastic Four and he has been a key creative player in the entire X-Men franchise. If there's anyone who knows what's going on behind the scenes at 20th Century Fox, it would be him.

From his statement, it would seem that not only will the movie get a sequel, but the entire Fantastic Four reboot cast will be back as well. While there's no questioning the talent of the cast, the success of the film isn't solely based on these actors' performances. It's everything else about the movie, with rumors claiming that Fox and director Josh Trank had some disagreement behind the scenes.

It remains to be seen how the studio and the people involved in the project will approach Fantastic Four 2. If Kinberg's statement is anything to go by, the creative team should have learned their lesson already. As for us, we can only hope for the best.

Do you think a Fantastic Four sequel should be made? Will you watch that movie?
