YG Entertainment officially announced the departure of Bang Ye Dam and Mashiho from the group TREASURE on Tuesday, November 8. Hence, the group will now promote as a ten-piece band.

The two have ended their contracts with YG and have no plans to renew. That said, Bang Ye Dam and Mashiho will no longer promote as part of TREASURE, making fans seem to lose their faith in the group’s agency.

YG Entertainment Announced Bang Ye Dam, Mashiho Departure from TREASURE

“After a long and careful discussion with Mashiho and Bang Ye Dam was mutually agreed to conclude the contracts between the two and YG Entertainment,” the statement read, via Koreaboo. “We have reached such agreement so that Mashiho could have enough time to recover from his health condition, and Bang Ye dam could pursue his career as a producer.”

It’s not the first time a boy group member under YG has left his band. Some of them are from BIGBANG, WINNER, AND Ikon.

Boy Group Members Who Leave YG

Nam Tae Hyun left YG in 2016 and started his own label. He also re-debuted as the leader of his own group, South Club.

In 2019, Seungri announced his retirement from the entertainment business after being involved in the Burning Sun Scandal.

The same year, B.I. left iKON after facing drug use allegations. He then went solo and had a successful career on his own.

In Bang Ye Dam and Mashiho’s case, fans can’t help but blame YG due to artist management. The two have been on a hiatus since May, but many expect them to return.

That said, fans decide not to become too attached to YG’s artists.

Some see these disbandments and member departures began with 2NE1. The separation of the four-piece girl group seemed to change everything, considering they were one of the most groundbreaking girl groups in K-pop history from when they debuted in 2009 to their disbandment in 2016.
