In the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, a plane with the banner stating #ReleasetheSnyderCut hovered in the sky.
The campaign grew louder as years went by. In late 2020, it was revealed that the infamous Snyder cut will be coming on HBO Max. It was a success that many DC and Snyder fans celebrated. There were some detractors saying it didn't exist and even calling the fans "weird" but everything was going great. Following the early screening, the positive reviews for the films were everywhere.
Some news outlets said that giving in to the fans' campaign was a dangerous precedent and some articles even referred to the fans as toxic.
