Fans Meme Campaign Just Brought Jared Leto's Morbius Back to Theaters

Jared Leto's debut as the Spider-Man anti-hero Morbius was sadly defined as the worst Spider-Man spinoff film of all time. Although Tom Holland's web-slinging hero and other Spider-Verse spinoffs like Tom Hardy's Venom are doing good in terms of box-office performance and critic reviews, Leto's Morbius was panned even before its theatrical release. Alongside the backlash that the spinoff encountered, the box-office receipts of the film also imply a major flop.

However, Jared Leto's blood-sucking villain picked up some attention after several hilarious memes surfaced on online platforms like Twitter. The public constantly made fun of the film that one anonymous troll streamed Morbius 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for an unknown reason.

Following that, the film instantly somehow picked up some engagement, and the enthusiasm of the fans was acknowledged by Sony, bringing back the film to theaters.

According to Comicbook.com, after fans turned Morbius into a new meme sensation, Sony confirmed that the Spider-Man spinoff will return to over 1,000 select theaters in the U.S on June 3rd.

Morbius premiered in theaters last April and was already pulled out after its one-month discouraging screening. Luckily, the film will be re-released after fans transformed it into a new meme status, earning more attention than before.

It's Morbin time again! While this news might shock many, it's really not surprising at all. Given how the film has been receiving publicity lately, Sony will definitely take advantage to make more money after Morbius' disheartening performance at the box office.

Aside from that, fans are also hilariously demanding a sequel for the film. Now that Sony responded to the public's movement by turning Morbius into a new meme fad, Sony might actually consider the idea, especially now that the public seems to grow enthusiasm over the film, which means that a possibility of a Morbius sequel isn't unattainable now.

Morbius is now available for digital release and will be back in theaters on June 3.
