Fans Find BTS’s RM’s Instagram Post Cryptic: What Does It Mean?

BTS’s RM shared a post on Instagram that fans found cryptic following BigHit Music’s announcement of the group’s upcoming mandatory military service.

ARMYs thoroughly inspected RM’s post, featuring the artworks of Kim Whanki at the S2A Gallery in Gangnam. Though he simply captioned it with “Whanki,” fans couldn’t help but decode the meaning of it.

RM’s Cryptic Post

The pictures look nothing new on his page’s aesthetic, knowing he usually posts art stuff and RM is an art lover himself.

It’s also known that Whanki is one of his most adored artists.

However, when fans carefully look at the post’s background, they start to see the deeper meaning behind it.

The artwork comes from the series Where, in What Form, Shall We Meet Again?, which fans seem to connect to BTS’s lengthy hiatus due to their enlistment.

According to Koreaboo, this series is named after the Korean poem, In the Evening, by Kim Gwang Seop, which is about the “intense longing between two entities.” Does RM see BTS and their fans in it?

The poem reads,

“Among a multitude of stars, one stares down at me. Among a multitude of people, I stare up at that one star. As the night grows deeper, it fades into brightness, and I disappear into darkness. Where, when, as what will the two of us, you, one so warm, & me, one so tender, meet again?”

Is RM’s Post a Coincidence?

Fans don’t see RM’s post as a coincidence. In fact, they see it as something to send them a message, albeit not saying it directly.

This, too, proves the strong bond the group has established with their followers. By the looks of it, they don’t have to say anything before ARMYs can understand what they feel.

BTS’s Military Enlistment

Meanwhile, BigHit announced on Monday, October 17, that BTS would fulfill their mandatory military service, starting with its oldest member, Jin.

It said,

“The members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfill their military service. Group member Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October. He will then follow the enlistment procedure of the Korean government. Other members of the group plan to carry out their military service based on their own individual plans.”

It added,

“Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment.”
