Lucy MacNeal and the Ghoul's adventure is not over yet as they set out to New Vegas at the end of Fallout season 1. What better way to wait out more episodes than by speculating the release date for Fallout season 2?

The hit Bethesda adaptation on Prime, Fallout greenlit a second season about 9 days after premiering season 1. Considering the huge praise the show garnered from old and new fans alike, there was no question that a second season would be in its future.

Here is all you need to know about Fallout season 2's release date predictions, potential delays, and story theories on where this might lead us.

Fallout season 1 began streaming its eight episodes on Prime on April 10, 2024, and seeing as it has been barely two months since its premiere, Fallout season 2 has no confirmed release date yet.

However, we can speculate about a potential release date.

The first season started filming on July 5, 2022, and wrapped up by March 28, 2023. Should season 2 follow the same routine, Fallout season 2 would be expected to release in 2026 at the earliest.

However, this doesn't mean the second season would be as smooth sailing as we'd like to think.

Potential Issues Fallout Season 2 May Face

Some of the main issues Fallout season 1 faced, apart from post-production and filming, were the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike and the SAG-AFTRA strike.

With the renewed deal, though, it is safe to say that the production team shouldn't face a similar concern in the future.

However, keep in mind that the main cast of Fallout, Walton Goggins (who plays the Ghoul aka Cooper Howard) and Ella Purnell (Lucy MacLean) could potentially hold back in the series, given they are high in demand.

The voiceover filming for Cecil Stedman on Invincible could interfere with Walton's involvement, with Ella also returning to voice Jinx in Netflix's Arcane season 2.

There's also Leslie Uggams, who might end up returning for another MCU shenanigan after Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters in July.

Fallout Season 2 Plot Theories

The end of season 1 teases what season 2 could unravel: New Vegas and the true secret behind Lucy's father, Hank (played by Kyle MacLachlan).

While Fallout season 2 doesn't have any confirmed plot synopsis yet, we do know what Lucy and the Ghoul are after: finding their families and figuring out the real plan behind the Vault-Tec project.

Since New Vegas was teased in the cliffhanging season 1 ending, there's a chance season 2 will be based on the story in the 2010 game Fallout: New Vegas.

Despite the New Vegas game not being a direct sequel to the main Fallout games, Bethesda video game designer Emil Pagliarulo confirmed that it is canon in the franchise.
