Fallout 76 Will Not Launch on Steam

A lot of fans are looking forward to Fallout 76 when it comes out this November, with it being the first game in the series to have online multiplayer. Soon enough, players will be able to try the game for themselves when the beta comes out in October, first coming to the Xbox One, then the PS4 and PC. However, the beta might be coming to PC but it will not come to Steam.

In fact, when the game launches it will not be on Steam. PC gamers have gotten used to getting their games on the popular platform, so not getting the latest Fallout game there is going to be a bit odd for veteran players.

Bethesda told PC Gamer that Fallout 76 will not be available on Steam for the time being, so PC players will have to purchase the game through Bethesda.net. Why the team chose to not put their next hot game there is a bit of a mystery, especially since Skyrim and Fallout 4 were released through there before.

To be fair, they did say it wouldn't be available on Steam for launch or the beta but that could mean the game will eventually make its way to the digital service. Bethesda probably wants some of that early launch money and could release it in Steam after some time has passed. Still an odd move though, given Steam's popularity.

Fallout 76 comes out on November 14.
