Falcon and Winter Soldier's Anthony Mackie Says Captain America's Shield 'is in Good Hands'

Disney+ and Marvel's The Falcon and The Winter Soldier continues to be one of the most talk-about Marvel projects post-Avengers: Endgame, building from the leftover threads of that movie, alongside some from Captain America: Civil War. The series can also be seen as a necessary stepping stone for Anthony Mackie's Falcon, who is going to become Captain America soon, whether it be in this show or an upcoming movie.

Mackie recently appeared in The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and he talked about his character becoming Captain America, once again bringing up how much of an honor it is for him. Mackie reiterates how he hopes his version of Captain America can be seen as a beacon of hope to anyone, not just black people, and we're hoping for the same thing.

"It is monumental man. I mean... to have Marvel select a young black man in America to represent the moniker of Captain America is is unprecedented. There's nothing that can compare to that. There's - it... it moves me not only that my kids get to see a black man as Captain America, but all of their friends white, black, Latino, and Asia can see a black man as Captain America."

When pressed on the matter of Cap's shield, he says that "the shield is in good hands," and that's going to make a lot of people happy. We've seen him practice his throwing arm on the Big Game Spot trailer that came out a few months ago so let's hope that he gets to throw it a bunch.

Falcon and Winter Soldier will be out by this August.
