What’s clear about the new anime is that it will take place after the events of the first anime’s finale, meaning fans will need to have watched or read Fairy Tail to enjoy this series.
Fairy Tale 100 Years Quest Anime Announced: All You Need to Know
After much anticipation, the Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest anime has finally gotten a new teaser. There, it was revealed that the show will premiere sometime in July 2024.
Also revealed was the show’s voice cast, which features returning VAs from the original series. These include:
- Tetsuya Kakihara (Jinpachi Todo in Yowamushi Pedal) as Natsu Dragneel
- Aya Hirano (Haruhi Suzumiya in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) as Lucy Heartfilia
- Rie Kugimiya (Alphonse Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) as Happy
- Yuichi Nakamura (Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Gray Fullbuster
- Sayaka Ohara (Milly Ashford in Code Geass) as Erza Scarlet
- Satomi Sato (Saki Hanajima in Fruits Basket) and Yui Horie (Tsubasa Hanekawa in Monogatari) as Wendy and Charle
J.C.Staff is also returning for this new series, with Fairy Tail director Shinji Ishihira now serving as the chief director.
Handling main director duties is Toshinori Watanabe (Edens Zero), who is joined by scriptwriter Atsuhiro Tomioka (Grappler Baki Maximum Tournament).
Where Does 100 Years Quest Fit into the Fairy Tail Timeline?
The Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest anime is based on an ongoing manga of the same name by Hiro Mashima. Instead of Mashima also working on illustrations, the series’ art is made by Atsuo Ueda.
Instead of being a series in the style of Boruto, this is more of a proper sequel, as it continues to follow Natsu and his team as they go on another adventure.
This time, their goal is to embark on the 100 Years Quest to seal the Five Dragon Gods.

How Long Is the Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest Time Skip?
Despite its title, this series does not take place all that long after the Fairy Tail arc’s finale.
The Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest anime takes place just around one year after the events of the Alvarez arc, meaning not much time has passed.
Given that the time skip is only one year long, fans will need to have watched or read the previous series to fully appreciate this sequel.
When Is the Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest Anime Coming Out?
Fans won’t have to wait much longer for the new anime as Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest is coming in July 2024. For now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date.
There’s also no word yet on a streaming platform partner outside of Japan. Given that the original anime is streaming on Crunchyroll, there’s a chance 100 Years Quest will be streamed there as well.
