Nearly five years after the original anime ended, Fairy Tail is finally returning with a sequel. Fans don’t have to wait much longer, as the Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest anime just confirmed its July release date.

The show’s premiere was announced alongside the release of a new key visual that highlighted the anime’s main characters.

What’s more, three new voice cast members were revealed, and they will voice new characters that will play big roles in the story.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Release Date

Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail manga ended in July 2017, with the anime adaptation subsequently getting its finale in September 2019.

After the manga’s ending though, Mashima started working on Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, a direct sequel to the original.

Unlike other shonen sequels such as Boruto, which featured a lengthy time skip and new characters, the Fairy Tail sequel follows Natsu’s team once again, this time in a new adventure.

The 100 Years Quest manga started serialization back in July 2018. Then in 2021, an anime adaptation was announced to be in the works by J.C.Staff.

It has taken a while, but the anime adaptation finally got a teaser video back in March, which also confirmed its July premiere. Now, it’s confirmed that the anime will premiere on July 7, 2024, in Japan.

As for the three voice actors, they include Yumi Uchiyama (Pack in Re:Zero) as Kiria, Itaru Yamamoto (Adolphe in Kaguya-sama: Love is War) as Madmole, and Kenji Hamada (Teppei Kiyoshi in Kuroko’s Basketball) as Skullion.

Where to Watch the Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Anime

In Japan, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest will air on TXN, all six of TV Tokyo's affiliated stations. Outside of Japan, the anime's only known distributor is Muse Communication, which holds the rights to the show in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, there’s no word yet on which platform the anime will be released in the US and Europe.

The original Fairy Tail anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll in the US. Because of this, chances are that Crunchyroll will also acquire the rights to the upcoming sequel.

All You Need to Know about the Fairy Tail Anime Sequel’s Story

100 Years Quest is set one year after the events of the Fairy Tail finale. Now, Natsu and his team embark on the 100 Years Quest, where their goal is to seal the Five Dragon Gods.

This quest has not been accomplished in over a century, meaning it is a difficult task; fitting given that the five dragons the cast must seal have the power to destroy the world.

While the four main characters are back, they are joined by a new member named Touka, a girl possessed by a witch.
