Ezra Miller Reportedly Won't Return As The Flash, Warner Bros. To Recast Role

Ezra Miller will not reprise his role as The Flash and Warner Bros. Pictures is recasting, if a new report is to be believed.

Miller's status as Scarlet Speedster for the DC Comics Extended Universe has been in limbo for quite awhile now. He wasn't happy with about the plan that directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley had in mind for the character, which led him to team up with comic book legend Grant Morrison to write his own script.

Apparently, the deal was for Miller to produce an excellent story that would convince Warner Bros. that the darker take on The Flash that the actor wanted is the way to go. However, a source that spoke to We Got This Covered claims he failed to do so. The script he came up with ultimately wasn't the direction the studio wanted to go.

There are apparently conflicting reports internally and that the source warns the news is not confirmed yet, but the studio is reportedly leaning towards letting Miller go and recasting The Flash, which would make him the fourth character from the live-action Justice League to undergo major changes.

If this comes to pass, only two out of original actors will remain, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa. Ben Affleck has confirmed his run as Batman is over. Ray Fisher's Cyborg solo movie apparently isn't happening and that the actor won't be reprising the role either. Henry Cavill, though not made official, appears to be done as Superman.

Shazam! is apparently the last film in the current DCEU slate. The reviews have so far been positive, and after the success of Aquaman, the lighter tone seems to be working well for Warner Bros. This is probably why the dark take Miller wanted for The Flash didn't work for them. Not to mention, Barry Allen's first appearance in Justice League was very comedic. A shift in tone would've been weird.

Who do you think should replace Miller as The Flash?
