It isn't easy to keep a secret from the press. However, Ezra Miller has successfully kept quiet about his character's identity reveal in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Although he did a great job avoiding spoilers, the Justice League actor admitted that he had a meltdown when he learned about the truth about Credence Barebone.
Miller recently spoke to CinemaBlend about his new film where he was asked how he reacted when he was told about the plot twist. The Flashpoint star countered by asking the interviewer how he imagined Miller's reaction would be then called it "the under-exaggeration of the millennia."
"No, I like, had, a serious, serious meltdown that I'm still having now," Miller said before welcoming everyone to his aforementioned meltdown.
This certainly seems like a valid reaction to the shocking reveal. After all, Gellert Grindelwald finally told Credence that he is Aurelius Dumbledore, a relative of Grindelwald's archnemesis Albus Dumbledore. It's a twist that nobody saw coming, especially when Fantastic Beasts 2 set it up so that everyone thought Credence was Corvus Lestrange.
As shocking as the reveal had been, some are still skeptical about Grindelwald's claim. It was previously reported that the villain may have lied to Credence about the boy's identity since he didn't actually know Credence was the Obscurial in the first film. But then again, he had previously called Credence a "squib," suggesting that he knew the boy came from a wizard family. We'll have to wait until the third film to find out if there is any truth to Grindelwald's revelation.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
