"The lead character is not like any other characters people have seen before. The autism spectrum provides the series with uniqueness and distinctiveness. It's not easy to create (a story) that seems familiar but is not. Yet, the series accomplished this, and that's what makes it different," the critic went on.
The main character faces different lawsuits in every episode, and she offers different but extraordinary ways to resolve the cases.
The critic added that Extraordinary Attorney Woo is a feel-good series that met the needs of the audience to see a “refreshment” amid the dark and dynamic genres in the industry.
Why Moon Ji Won Created the Drama
In an interview released through ENA, the creator and writer of Extraordinary Attorney Woo Moon Ji Won said she aimed to take viewers into a different world to let them meet the extraordinary attorney.
"We usually refer to those, who are atypical, unfamiliar, unique, peculiar, uncanny, random, odd and outside-the-box, as extraordinary. Those people can stir tensions and sometimes cause trouble. But they also can change and enrich our world, and make it a more interesting place to live," she went on.
This resonated with what Kim Hern Sik said when he explained how the series serves as an “open-hearted approach to depicting the realities of people with disabilities.”
Extraordinary Attorney Woo has a total of 16 episodes, and it will release its final episode on August 18.
