Expect Spock to Make an Appearance in Star Trek: Discovery 2

Judging how close Michael Burnham's relationship is with Spock, it was only a matter of time before everyone's favorite Vulcan made an appearance in Star Trek: Discovery. As it turns out, we should expect him to show up this upcoming Season 2.

This was confirmed by executive producer Alex Kurtzman at SDCC 2018:

Even in the first season, there have already been several mentions of Spock. For one, Burnham is basically his adopted sister, and it's her being constantly compared to Spock that forced her to work harder as a Starfleet recruit.

We don't know yet how Spock will make his appearance in Season 2, but we do know that Captain Pike is already set to appear in the premiere episode. In the pilot for the original Star Trek, Spock was already under Pike's command, so I guess that he would make an appearance sometime alongside Pike.

For now, my guess is just as good as any.

I know it may be a stretch, but I'm hoping they get Zachary Quinto to reprise his Spock role for the series. It's just wishful thinking, but it would be great if the Trek films had a bit more synergy with the TV side of things. After all, TV is where Trek started.

Star Trek: Discovery 2 comes out sometime in 2019.
