Before the release of Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel Studios treated us to some very Taika Watiti-esque shorts which had Thor living in Australia with a roommate named Darryl. As it turns out, Darryl is going to make a comeback in another short, and this time, he'll be rooming with Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster.
Here's the official synopsis for the short (via ComicBook):
Exclusive Short/Team Darryl – Fresh off being unseated as the ruler of Sakaar, the Grandmaster makes his way to Earth to start a new life. It's been over a year since Thor left Australia and Darryl has been struggling to pay his rent. Now Darryl needs a new roommate to help make the monthly payments. Unfortunately for Darryl, the Grandmaster was the only one who answered Darryl's "Roommate Needed" ad and with no viable options, the Grandmaster moves in.
The short is expected to release along the Thor: Ragnarok Blu-Ray which is expected to come out this March. With the Grandmaster being one of the more memorable characters in the film, I'm excited to see how Darryl will make do this time around. Fingers crossed that Thor makes a cameo.
It's actually been revealed that a deleted scene has the Grandmaster sneaking aboard the ship full of Asgardians, and he would have to come along with them to Earth, trying to find out his place there. I don't know if they shot this third short during production of Ragnarok, but I'm very open to seeing more of Darryl.
Maybe he gets to make an official appearance in an Avengers movie? Who knows?
Thor: Ragnarok comes out to home video this March.
